Cesc Gay, a film director and screenwriter born in Barcelona in 1967 and EMAV graduate, made his film direction debut with Hotel Room (1998), shot in New York City, where he was living at the time. Selected by the San Sebastian Festival, the film allowed him to be known and receive his first film assignment: the film adaptation of the play Krámpack (2000), which was selected and awarded a prize at the Critics' Week at the Cannes Film Festival. From then on, he has made a succession of films, the most noteworthy of which are: En la ciudad (2003), Ficció (2006), Una pistola en cada mano (2012), Truman (2015), Sentimental (2020) and his latest film Historias para no contar (2022). He also directs the TV series Félix (2018) and debuts in writing and directing theatre with the comedies Els veïns de dalt (2015) and 53 Diumenges (2020), premiered at Teatre Romea in Barcelona.
