"HOPE GAP" AND "CORPUS CHRISTI" ARE THE BIG WINNERS OF BCN FILM FEST 2020

HOPE GAP, the new work from British director and screenwriter William Nicholson, has won the Best Film Award of IV Festival Internacional de Cine de Barcelona-Sant Jordi (BCN FILM FEST).
 
The Official Jury, formed by actress Mercedes Sampietro, singer and writer Gerard Quintana and film director Judith Colell has decided to recognize this drama starring Bill Nighy and Annette Bening with the biggest prize of the festival "for being an intelligent and profound meditation on the divorce conflict of a couple who has stayed together for a long time, on a tale of loneliness, lack of loyalty, mistrust, and fear of death, all highlighted with intelligent and poetic texts that perfectly explain the story."

This way, a very special edition of the festival has ended with more than 8.000 viewers. A quantity which, as director Conxita Casanovas said, can be considered an "absolute success", keeping in mind the capacity restrictions at 50% in all sessions to guarantee that all the sanitary and security measures were carried out in the current context.

However, beyond the good number of viewers, the festival's organization feels especially satisfied for having achieved its most important goal: to reactivate in the city of Barcelona and particularly in Gracia's neighbourhood the good habit of enjoying movies inside a movie theater.

BCN FILM FEST's fifth edition will take place in April 15 to 23 2021, celebrating its Closing Gala on Sant Jordi (Saint George's day).
