BCN FILM FEST ANNOUNCES ITS COMPLETE LINE-UP
New films by Richard Linklater, Quentin Dupieux, Michel Franco, Yôji Yamada and Monia Chokri join the BCN Film Fest programme

The Barcelona-Sant Jordi International Film Festival(BCN FILM FEST) announces the complete programme of its eighth edition, which will be held from 18 to 26 April at the Cines Verdi as the main venue, and which includes 69 titles in the 8 sections of the event. There will be 15 world premieres, 1 European premiere, 20 Spanish premieres and 11 Catalan premieres.
Richard Linklater's "Hit Man" joins the programme
One of the new additions to the festival's programme is "Hit Man", the new film by the director of "Before Sunrise" and "Boyhood", Richard Linklater. It is an unusual comedy received at the Venice Festival as one of the best works of his career. Also included is "Memory", an atypical and moving love story starring a great leading couple, Jessica Chastain and Peter Sarsgaard, winner of Best Actor at the Venice Film Festival, and directed by Michel Franco ("New Order"). The screening of "Memory" will be held in collaboration with the Americana Film Fest.
Other additions to the programme
Among the other new titles that will form part of the BCN FILM FEST, in addition to those mentioned above and the February preview, in the Official Selection, the following stand out: "Daaaaaaaalí! "a tribute to the figure of the great master of surrealism by French director Quentin Dupieux ("Jaws"); "Rest in Peace", a new film adaptation of the disturbing literary universe of John Ajvide Lindqvist, the author of Let the Right One In, in a fantastic genre film that mixes horror and drama; "Maya's Destiny, a historical drama about a woman's struggle to raise her family on a remote 19th century Finnish island, andIrene's Promise, the true story of the Polish nurse forced to work for the Nazis who risked her life to save a group of Jews during World War II. The out-of-competition Official Selection includes "Freud's Last Session", an approach to the personal world of the father of psychoanalysis starring Anthony Hopkins.
As for the Cinema amb Gràcia section, Monia Chokri's "Simple as Sylvain", the romantic comedy about a woman's passionate secret relationship that won the César Award for Best Foreign Film, and "Mom, is that you?!", the latest work by veteran Japanese director Yôji Yamada, will be added. The BCN FILM FEST also adds to the Zona Oberta section "Milagros, una osa extraordinaria", an inspiring story with an important message about environmental protection awareness, which will be screened in collaboration with El Meu Primer Festival.
Two new titles are added to the Art al Cinema section. They are "Jeff Koons: A Private Portrait", an exciting journey through the mind and life of the controversial artist, which allows us to discover what inspires his transgressive vision, and "The Immortals and Wonders of the Egizio Museum in Turin", a documentary in which Jeremy Irons takes us into the treasures and wonders of Egyptian culture through an imaginary journey to the underworld. Also added to the Must-see section is "Tokyo-Ga", the legendary documentary by Wim Wenders in which he travels to Japan in search of the Tokyo depicted in the films of Yasujirô Ozu. Festival audiences will also be able to enjoy, in Asian Madness by CineAsia, a new title, "Eega", a delirious romantic action comedy about a man reincarnated as a fly who seeks revenge.
Nous talents
The Nous Talents section of short films in competition will feature 11 films by film students from the UPF, FX Barcelona Film School, ESCAC, La Casa del Cine and UVIC. The selected works from UPF are: "Ara, ara mateix", by Carol Lakiszyk, Albert López and Arnau Vergés, "Es caliu", by Alba Ribeiro, and "Vestigi", by Pablo Goirigolzarri and Felix Malz. From FX Barcelona Film School, the short films "Asterisco", by Xavi Herrera, "Blau", by Lluís Bogunyà, and "Sin salida", by Damar del Verde will compete. As for ESCAC, the works in competition are "Blava Terra", by Marine Auclair March, and "Play off", by Sofía Ponce de León. "El meu avi", by Sara Espinosa Amorós, has been selected from LCDC, and two short films from UVIC, "La gran pausa", by Màrius Viñas, and "Llibertat", by Jaume Plans.
Jury
The Official Jury of the BCN FILM FEST will be chaired by actor Eduard Fernández, who will be accompanied by actress Clara Segura and actor and theatre director Carles Sans.
The critics and journalists from the Catalan Association of Film Critics and Writers (ACCEC) Marla Jacarilla, Esteve Plantada and Xavier Daniel will make up the jury that awards the Critics' Prize.
LAAB, at the BCN FILM FEST
The BCN FIM FEST will host, as part of the Screenwriters and Industry Conference, the presentation of the new LAAB (Barcelona Audiovisual Adaptation Laboratory). LAAB is a laboratory for the adaptation of literary works, already edited and published, that are linked to the city of Barcelona and that can be adapted by the audiovisual sector, promoted by the Creative Industries Department of the Barcelona Institute of Culture (ICUB). The BCN FILM FEST will be the future framework in which this new edition of the LAAB will take place.
Screen International Award for Catalan Producer of the Year
Another of this year's novelties is the Screen International Award for Catalan Producer of the Year, which will be presented by Screen International to an outstanding Catalan film producer of the year. The award will be presented during the festival.
Successful attendance at the Quinzena de l'Escola (School's Fifth Festival)
The BCN FILM FEST organised a new edition of the Quinzena de l'Escola, this year from 11 to 22 March, offering a varied programme of educational films for teachers and students, with the participation of 2,600 Catalan students.

Tickets for the BCN FILM FEST will continue to be priced from 4,90 €. From 5 April, session times will be available for consultation and tickets will go on sale on 11 April.
