Josef Bloch is a soccer goalkeeper who loses his concentration in the middle of a match and is sent off for foul play. Confused, he wanders around the city not knowing where to go and ends up doing things without much explanation or meaning. He spends the night with a movie box office girl and the next morning he strangles her.
