Since its seventh edition, in 2023, the main venue of the festival, the Cinemes Verdi, has a new electric solar panel system. The consumption of a type of renewable energy, such as solar energy, makes Cinemes Verdi sustainable facilities that collaborate in a practical and effective way in improving the environmental benefits of its environment.

In addition, the BCN FILM FEST implemented a series of measures to reduce the environmental impact of its activities:

• Reduction in the number of impressions of the promotional elements of the festival.
• Use of recycled paper in all the impressions of the festival (catalogue, hand program, etc.), with the certificate that guarantees that all its production chain is sustainable and fair trade with all the workers involved (FSC certificate, which confirms that the original forest of paper is managed in a way that preserves biodiversity and benefits local populations and workers, while ensuring its economic viability).
• Use of recyclable material in the manufacture of the official bags of the festival (organic cotton) and in all promotional materials, with the corresponding certificate that guarantees that its production chain is sustainable and fair trade with all the workers involved.
• Preponderance of digital shipments in the communications and press releases of the festival.
• Hiring train trips for festival guests whenever possible, avoiding air travel.
• Use of electric cars for the travel of the festival guests. Encourage the shared use of vehicles in the travel of guests around the city.
• Reuse of panels from other editions of the festival.
• Selective collection of waste.
• Use of recyclable material in the sale of products from the Cinemes Verdi bar (cases, containers for popcorns).
• Preponderance of sale of digital tickets, avoiding the use of paper as much as possible.
• Training of Verdi Cinema staff on sustainability issues.
