After the death of his mother, Bobby, a young man with a disability, is left at the mercy of his stepfather. The man, who wants to take control of the family business, terrorizes him and threatens to lock him up in an asylum. The boy decides to escape through the English countryside. On his journey, in a road accident, he meets Mr. Summers, who shows more interest in a run over rabbit than in the health of the driver involved in the event.
