Can an ‘anime’ change a country? On 15 February 1990, Bola de Drac premiered on TV3 without great expectations. But, in a short time, the animated series based on Akira Toriyama's comic became an unexpected success that started a whole cultural and social movement... and a huge traffic of photocopies! This documentary series portrays a phenomenon that impacted several generations of Catalans, from linguistic normalisation to the discovery of Japanese culture, including political conflicts and the birth of a mass event like Manga Barcelona. For the first time, the protagonists of this adventure explain all the secrets of an exciting story. For many Catalans, yes, an ‘anime’ can change a country.
