In 16th century Japan, in the middle of the civil war, Genjuro and Tobei are two brothers with ambitions of prosperity who live in a humble village with their families. Genjuro wants to get rich by selling ceramic objects in the city and Tobei aspires to become a samurai. The two brothers go to the city to fulfill their dreams, with war about to break out in their village.
