Elderly professor Isak Borg has to travel to Lund University to attend a reception in his honor. Terrified by a nightmare in which he sees his own corpse, he decides to travel by car instead of taking a plane, as it was planned. He is accompanied by his daughter-in-law, who decides to leave her home after an argument with is husband. During the travel, Isak stops by the house where he spent the summer when he was a child, a place where wild strawberries grew and he lived his first love. The memories of these years make him think about the choices he has made in his life.
