In a small town of the french countryside, Marie St. Clair and Jean Millet are in love despite the disapproval of their fathers. Toguether they decide to escape to Paris, but Jean's father die and he doesn't arrive to the date with Marie, who leaves all alone. One year later, they meet again in Paris, where the young woman has become a rich's man lover.
