Wataru Hirayama is a wealthy Tokyo businessman highly respected among his family and friends for his serenity and always sound advice. A former schoolmate asks him to intercede for his daughter, who has ran away with a young man he does not accept, to return home. Wataru decides to talk to talk to the girl, but he has to face an unforeseen situation situation when a young man asks for the hand of his eldest daughter, Setsuko. Wataru is displeased that, without having spoken to him first to get his opinion, Setsuko Setsuko has planned to marry.
