The Yoshii family moves to a suburb of Tokyo so that the father can be closer to the office where he works. The two sons must adapt to the new school, but they encounter hostility from a group of boys, including the son of their father's direct superior. Moreover, when they discover their father's servile attitude towards his boss, the brothers suffer a humiliating disappointment.
