Salvatore is a young boy who lives in Giancaldo, a small post-war Italian village. Fascinated by cinema, he starts a friendship with Alfredo, the projectionist at Cinema Paradiso, the local movie theater where he spends most of his free time. Years later, now, as a renowned film director based in Rome, he must return to his hometown after receiving unexpected news.
