The second edition of the Barcelona-Sant Jordi International Film Festival (BCN FILM FEST), which will take place from 20 to 27 April 2018, will dedicate the whole section of classics of the seventh art Imprescindibles to Swedish director Ingmar Bergman.
This little retrospective will go through the work of one of the most significant directors of the whole history of filmmaking, allowing to see how actual and innovative his art still is. The inclusion in the program of the Bergman films is also part of the educational philosophy of the festival, whose maximum expression is the label Educacine. This event will probably mean the first chance for the new generations of film goers to discover at a big screen the work of this unique director.
Born in 1918, Bergman revolutionized film language and cinematographic art through four prolific decades. Between the 40s and the 80s he gave expression to his talent and vision of life in master pieces, like for example "The Seventh Seal", "Wild Strawberries", "Persona", "Passion" or "Fanny and Alexander", his last film. Then he continued his extraordinary artistic work in the theater and television until his death in 2007.
In the following weeks, the festival will announce the Bergman films that have been chosen for the program. This initiative by the BCN FILM FEST is supported by the Catalunya Cinematheque.
