JOSÉ LUIS GARCI WILL RECIVE THE HONORARY AWARD OF THE BCN FILM FEST

José Luis Garci (Madrid, 1944) is one of the great figures of Spanish cinema, the first winner of the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film for "Volver a empezar", and the creator of key works such as "El crack", which celebrates its 45th anniversary and will be presented at the festival with a restored copy, or "El abuelo". With a classic and melancholic style influenced by Hollywood filmmakers like John Ford and Billy Wilder, the Goya Award winner for Best Director for "Asignatura Aprobada" he began his career as a screenwriter (co-author of "La cabina") and also stood out as a film communicator on ¡Qué grande es el cine!, earning honors such as the National Cinematography Award and the Medal of Merit in Fine Arts, which recognize a career rich in artistic, historical, and educational achievements.

The BCN FILM FEST will celebrate it's tenth edition from the 16th to the 24th of April of 2026, consolidating a decade of commitement with cinema, culture and the city of Barcelona.
