Berlin in the 1930s. Anna is a 9-year-old girl who lives happily just like any other child of her age. However, Hitler's imminent rise to power is about to change everything for the girl and her Jewish family. Her father, a well-known journalist whose political ideals have made him a target for Nazi persecution, decides the best thing is to leave the country. Anna and her family flee to Switzerland. The girl has to leave behind a lot of beloved things, such as her pink bunny rabbit.
