Italy, 1936. Giovanni Comini has just been promoted to Federal. He is the youngest in the country and is transferred to Rome for a delicate mission: he must watch the writer Gabriele D'Annunzio and make sure that he does not give any problems. D'Annunzio, a nationally recognized poet, is increasingly uneasy, and Benito Mussolini fears it could hurt the alliance with Nazi Germany.
