Sam Bloom is a young mother who lives happily with her husband and their three children. One day an accident leaves her paralysed. As she and her family struggle to adjust to their new situation, an unlikely ally appears in their lives in the form of an injured bird, they call Penguin after see the colour of its plumage. The arrival of this animal is a welcome distraction for the Bloom family, which ultimately makes a huge difference to Sam, teaching her how to live again.
