1940, Japan. The night before the outbreak of World War II, local merchant Yusaku Fukuhara leaves his wife Satoko at home and travels to Manchuria with his nephew. There he accidentally witnesses a barbaric act and decides to take action to reveal it to the world. After an initial misunderstanding, his wife discovers her husband's true intentions and decides to protect him unconditionally. Who can be trusted?
