A filmmaker moves to a rural Iranian town, on the border with Turkey, to direct a new film, whose plot follows two parallel love stories where the desires of couples are frustrated by hidden and unavoidable obstacles, the force of superstition and the mechanics of power As he struggles to complete his film, the director finds himself in the middle of a local scandal, facing the opposing impulses of tradition and progress, city and country, belief and evidence, and the universal desire to reject oppression.
