A woodcutter and his wife live in a large forest. The cold, hunger, poverty and war that surround them make their lives very hard. One day, the woodcutter's wife rescues a baby, a girl thrown from one of the many trains that constantly pass through the forest. This baby will change her life and the lives of all those who cross her path. Her story will reveal the worst and the best of human hearts.
