Nikki, a British-Japanese aspiring writer, plans to write a book based on her mother Etsuko’s memories, hoping to reconstruct her past. Haunted by the suicide of her eldest daughter, Etsuko recalls her experiences from the early 1950s, when she lived in the Japanese city of Nagasaki before emigrating to the United Kingdom. Facing her mother’s memories will be a significant challenge for Nikki.
