Peret is a gypsy singer who, despite family opposition, becomes the most international artist in Spain. Under pressure from his family and the regime, his individualistic character and vision lead him to abandon his career; but Peret returns as the "king of Catalan rumba", escapes the pressure of success and returns to his family.
