Harland Rust has a bad reputation as a ruthless outlaw with a price on his head. When he learns that his thirteen-year-old grandson has been sentenced to hang for an alleged murder, he decides to travel to Kansas. After a violent confrontation, Rust manages to break him out of jail and flee to the border. Rust and his grandson must join forces to evade the legendary Marshal Wood Helm and a notorious bounty hunter.
