THE BCN FILM FEST WILL SHOW THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN LITERATURE, HISTORY AND CHINESE CINEMA IN THE SECTION CHINA BY CINEASIA

The Institut Confuci de Barcelona is added as a new venue and will offer an online course with CineAsia

For the third consecutive year, the BCN FILM FEST is dedicating a section to Asian cinema in collaboration with CineAsia. CHINA BY CINEASIA will offer a wide range of proposals ranging from the most authorial films by established directors to the highest-grossing film in the history of China and a documentary dedicated to one of the most famous literary figures of the Asian giant. New this year, the Fundació Institut Confuci de Barcelona joins as a collaborator of the BCN FILM FEST and its facilities become an additional venue for the festival.

China's cinematography, barely known in the West before its success in the major European festivals at the end of the 1980s, has been experiencing an enormous commercial boom for more than a decade, making it one of the global cinematic powers. Literature, and especially history, are two of the foundations on which much of its enormous output is based.

Below are the films that make up the CHINA BY CINEASIA section:

THE BATTLE AT LAKE CHANGJIN (2021) by Chen Kaige, Tsui Hark and Dante Lam. Spanish Première.

FIST OF FURY (1972) by Lo Wei

RED SORGHUM (1987) by Zhang Yimou

LUST, CAUTION (2007) by Ang Lee

I AM NOT MADAME BOVARY (2016) by Feng Xiaogang

ONE SECOND (2020) by Zhang Yimou

THE BATTLE AT LAKE CHANGJIN II (2022) by Tsui Hark. Spanish Première.
